The Department of Commerce got started in Raha College in August 2016 with a batch of 40 students and two faculty members. Since then, it has been dedicating quality teaching to the students in Commerce with honours in Accountancy and Management. From the very beginning of the department, it is constantly emphasizing in not only teaching the framed curriculum but also towards a comprehensive development of the students. In 2017, the strength of the department enhanced with the introduction of honours in Finance which reveals notable progress for an infant department. In 2018, Higher Secondary course has been initiated and by 2020, the result of the first batch was 100% performance in H. S. Course. From 2019, as the syllabus of degree course changed to CBCS, so the new course structure has also been introduced. Presently, the department is offering major courses in Accountancy, Management and Finance. The department is being run efficiently by the full-time faculty with the aid of contractual teachers as and when required. Utmost concern is paid to the on-time completion of syllabus, assessments, guidance, mock test, reformative classes etc. There is also a well-managed Department library with around 100 books in both English and Assamese medium. By 2019, the department has to its credit the successful progression (Graduation) of the first batch and after that the progress in the result of graduation is going on.
