The department of Sanskrit was opened in the year 1991 in the college. At the initial stage teaching of the subject was confined to pass course only. Major course in the subject was introduced in the session 1996-97. In the department, Dr. Dwijen Sarma joined as a full time lecturer in the year 1991 in a non-sanctioned post and he has been serving as HOD till date. Shri Bhagawan Goswami joined in the department in the year 1991 as part-time lecturer and served upto 2003. Miss Sabita Sarma joined in the year 1993 and served in the department upto 1994. In the year 1996 Miss Aparajita Devi joined in the department and served upto 1998. Miss Moni Deka, ex-student of the department joined in 2000 and served upto 2003. Dr. Champak Deka joined in the year 2008 and served till 2009. Sri Angshuman Adhyapak joined in 2009 and served upto 2015 in the department. Miss Pushpa Gaonkhiwa joined in 2010 and served upto 2012. Sri Utpal Borthakur joined in 2015 and served till 2017. Sri Atul Nath joined in the department in the year 2017 and served upto 2022. Miss Nijushmita Konwar, ex student of the department, joined in 2022 and is serving as a contractual teacher.
