Profile


The Department of Anthropology has started functioning from the year 2016 with one faculty member and a batch of two students persuing honours in Anthropology.

The department offers a 6-Semester Graduate (B. A(Pass Course/B.Sc. Honours) programme in Anthropology with a duration of 3 years. The students have to persue papers based on biological, socio-cultural anthropology and archeological anthropology which is all about the origin, evolution and diversity of our own human species as well as its relationship to other primates and human culture, civilization both in their traditional and contemporary forms, origin, growth and development of the culture in the past, respectively, alongwith practicals which includes field study, laboratory work. The students are also taught about research design, application of methods, techniques in data collection as well as ethics of research. At present, there are two faculty members who have recently joined the department in the month of November, 2021. The current student strength of the department is 55, out of which 10 are persuing major in Anthropology and 45 are persuing pass course. Two batches have already completed their graduation from this department respectively in the year 2020 and 2022 .

Courses Offered:

1-Higher Secondary Arts and Science: 10+2

2.B.Sc. Honours in Anthroplogy  (CBCS)

a.1st Sem (BSc honours)courses: The students have to study two core papers of Anthropology alongwith two generic elective papers from any other discipline.

b.2nd sem major students have to study 3 corebpapers from Anthropology alongwith two generic elective papers from any other discipline

c. Simiarly , for the students persuing honours in Anthropology for the 3rd semester, there are 3 core papers of Anthropology alongwith two generic elective papers from any other discipline.

d. For 4th semester students, there are  3 core papers of Anthropology alongwith two generic elective papers from any other discipline.

e. For 5th semester students, there are two core papers and one discipline specific elective paper of Anthropology.

f. For 6th semester students, there are two discipline specific elective papers of Anthropology and two core papers.

3. B.A Pass Course (Regular)(CBCS):

a. For 1st semester,2nd semester,3rd semester ,4th semester, there are only one paper  of Anthropolgy alongwith other papers from any other discipline

b. For 5th semester and 6th semester, the students have to study two papers in Anthropology alongwith other papers from any other discipline.
